Happy Weekend!

I was cleaning and playing around yesterday
and decided to use this old grater as a vase for flowers on my kitchen island.
I simply put a bottle inside, clipped a few limelight hydrangeas from my gardens
added a little jute twine bow, and voila' I have a cute vintage-y vase.
I think it looks perfect in front of my old tool caddy filled with my wooden utensils.

Now I'm off to my clients home to install curtains.
Woo Hoo.....I can't wait to share.

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend & staying cool.

:: birdcage...l..o..v..e

This morning I'm obsessing over birdcages.

I've loved them for some time now, but I've never found the right one for me.

Until now....the one above from Sadie Olive is so me.

unfortunately I cannot afford this one : (.

Someday the right one will come along and at the right price.

I must admit I am quite frugal, so for now I'll just admire this one.

this and this

these

and these.

So, what do you think about birdcages?

Timeless or Trendy?

Me, I love them but I only want a vintage one...

that's timeless to me.

Happy Friday Sweets!

Just a few of the things I love from my clients home....

Love these glass jars and the old wooden bowl...the bowl was found at an antique store,
the large aqua bottle at a consignment store, and the two smaller jars were found at Tuesday Morning.

Bamboo framed mirror....Goodwill, topiary....antique store.

Quilted bird pillow....Tuesday Morning.

Faux herb pots and carrier....Target.

Original Rooster painting & olive oil bottle....Consignment store.

Sneak peek at the kitchen so far.

Butterfly print, orchid, and bird....Kohl's.

Quatrafoil Mirror....Target.

Sneak peek at the master bedroom through a fabulous mirror.

I'm still working on my friends home design, and things are really coming together nicely.
We still have some projects & shopping left to do, but we are getting there, and on a good budget too.
Stay tuned for the finished rooms...hopefully very soon.

Happy Decorating : )

:: what I did

Here's what I did with my abundance of cherry tomatoes.

First I sliced them in half and layered them on a parchment covered cookie sheet,
drizzled them with a little olive oil, added salt & pepper and some garlic powder { I didn't have any fresh on hand }.

I baked them in a 375 degree oven for about and hour or until they looked good and roasted.
Oh my.....My house smelled absolutely divine....mouth watering.

I found a recipe on All Recipes for a simple & quick pizza crust, I mixed it up according to all of the directions
and then rolled it out to fit my cast iron pizza pan {love it...a gift from a neighbor who owns a pizza pub}.
 Then I simply brushed on more olive oil, added my cheese, tomatoes & some fresh basil from my deck herb garden {I will share soon}.
I baked it at 375 until the cheese was nicely colored & bubbling {very exact directions huh} A professional chef I am not.

Here it is all ready to be eaten up by me.  Now to be honest this was quite bland as I didn't add enough basil or other spices to the actual pizza,
so I would suggest spicing it up with whatever spices appeal to you. When I reheated it the next day I added some salt & pepper,
a little fresh oregano & more basil....that really did the trick...Yum-O. The crust was pretty good...
but when I have more time I will try a whole wheat crust recipe.... in a rush this worked just fine with a few simple ingredients.

It musn't have been too bad though because I had three pieces....I can never stop at just one. I loved the flavor of the fresh roasted tomatoes,
sweet & tart...yummy. I just picked more cherry tomatoes yesterday, so this recipe will be coming to my kitchen again soon....
with a whole wheat crust and more spices of course.  I also  froze the left over roasted tomatoes for future recipes.

So there you have it, what I'll be doing later today....roasting more garden fresh tomatoes.

Happy Cooking

:: I'm Done

I've got nothin' people, I think all this southern heat has fried my brain.

I'm finding myself dreaming of crisp cool fall days here lately.

When it's too hot to enjoy time on the patio....I'm done.

How about you? Is it sweltering where you are too?

Oh.....speaking of Fall,

Are you going to the Country Living Fair?

My sister and I just booked our rooms for the October show.

I'm so excited, this will be my first time going to the show & Stone Mountain Ga.

Have you been?  I would love to hear about the best places to stop, shop & eat.

If you are going maybe we could plan to meet up

I would love a chance to meet some of my bloggy friends.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Monday....

Stay Cool : )

:: cool stools

My sister is in town visiting with me this weekend and we've been discussing how to create an island
for her kitchen. Of course this led to searching for the perfect stools to cozy up to said island. So these are
a few of my personal favorites....who knows, maybe you are looking for the perfect stools too.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend
