:: the coffee scoop

Hello Sweet Friends, it's been a while. Lots going on these days, lots to keep me away from this little happy place. I'm hoping that in the coming days I can get here more and more often, I really do miss blogging and all of my sweet bloggy friends.

Today I just so happened to be inspired by a coffee scoop of all things. I was simply making a cup of coffee....When I realized how much I love using my stainless steel Starbuck's coffee scoop {one of my favorite yard sale finds of all time} it's such a simple pleasure. I simply love the weight of it and the feel in my hand...this realization led me online to try & find another for our new lake house.

I was really hoping to find the same one since I adore the weight of it & the two tablespoon measure (less scooping). Well, I did find one used on Ebay, but it was really rather pricey compared to my little yard sale find....it is used after all :(. Anyhoo, I realized that there are so many other cute options, there's hand beaded, vintage, and my new favorite...hand carved wooden ones. I just love a good wooden spoon, so I've decided I'm going to have a wooden one instead. I found so many lovely options on ETSY....you can always count on finding something unique & special there, I adore handmade.

The arrow desing by Custom Timber Home Furnishings is my absolute favorite...
I'm so crushing on arrows these days. It really seems to fit into my lake decor perfectly.

This one is rather cute also.
Made by Falling Pigeon of Wisconsin White Oak...
I think the handle looks quite comfy to hold.

Another interesting design, I like the wavy handle and the flat bottom.
There is lots of detail including inlay around the bottom of this scoop by

How lovely is this little black walnut scoop. The bowl of the scoop looks nice and round.
I bet it would be fun to scoop with. This one is made by Lots of Woods, I love the leaves...
it just screams fall & sitting on the porch drinking coffee.

This beautifully crafted scoop made by Polder's Old World Market is my second choice.
I love the simple design and the warm coloring...it's a little out of my scoop budget though.
I'm sure it's well worth the money, lots of beautiful craftsmanship.

So there you have it, a few of my favorite wooden coffee scoops.

Hooray for simple pleasures, COFFEE & SCOOPS!

How about you, how will you spend your weekend?

:: potting nook

I'm several years behind in sharing this little potting nook that I created at my former home. It was in the perfect spot, right outside of the garage and under a shade tree. I could just back right up to it & unload my farmer's market treasures. I loved that little desk/potting bench it was so convenient and it added much needed life & charm to it's location.

I found the vintage desk at a local antique store for ten dollars. I was instantly attracted to it's color. The fact that it was already shabby & rusty made it perfect for outdoor use. Everything else I simply had lying around the house already. All I had to do was add some pretties like the caladiums & geraniums. I sure miss this little space, but in time I'll create a cute little potting area at our new home as well. For now this one will live on in my memories and here on my blog.

This old Windsor style chair had been with me since my first apartment ha ha,
years of sitting outside gave it a nice chippy & worn patina perfect for this spot.

Hope you enjoyed my little potting nook, I really miss that cute little space under the trees.

Do you have a potting nook, shed, or table? I would love to see...leave me a link :).

Happy Gardening!

Close ups of a wonderful day spent at the Greensboro Farmer's Market. I mistakenly left all of my other lenses at home so macro photos it was. I'm more than a little behind in sharing these photos from a surprise visit to my Mom for mother's day at the Greensboro Farmer's Market. You can find her at Still Hollow Farm selling her vegetable plants, jellies, jams, jewelry, gourd art, and any other crafty thing that catches her fancy....she's such and inspiration to me.

Marjoram bundles...they smell amazing,
and by snipping off a few ends I'm hoping for fuller growth.

I'm so happy to have something growing again.

:: my favorite rug pad

Since moving into our new home, rugs & rug pads have become very important....
especially good ones that do what they are supposed to & actually hold a rug in place.
With wood floors in nearly every room in the house minus two baths, plus two very energetic dalmatians who think it's their job to ruffle my rugs {especially this round woven rug at the bottom of our stairs}. Cooper {our big puppy} loves to leap from the third step landing on the rug & sliding it across the floor into a heap.....he seriously thinks it's his job {it makes him so happy}....for me it was more than a little irritating & a pain to constantly fix....

UNTIL NOW....

with my new super duper RUG PAD {what what}

This new rug pad keeps my rug perfectly in place & it doesn't budge.

I LOVE IT...it's true, i'm in love with a rug pad.

I've tried several rug pads in the past and this one is by far my favorite & it works better than any other I've ever tried, especially those cheap ones that look like shelf liners sold in most stores.

This rug is for use on multiple surfaces even carpet, one side is smooth & a little tacky, and the other is rough a little like velcro & it grabs the rug & holds on tight. It's nice and thin so it doesn't leave the tale tale pad line under your rugs. I have a couple of the heavy duty ones & while they work okay, they show under the rug because of the thickness....not too pretty.

Now, I cannot attest to the way this works on carpets because I have none, but I'm willing to guess that it probably does just what it says & works on every surface perfectly.

I'm so glad to have found this rug pad

It's DALMATIAN tested & MOM approved.

You can check it out HERE.

The opinions I am sharing are entirely my own based on my own experience. I am receiving no compensation for sharing these opinions ( though some free rug pads would be nice ; ).

:: mr. bushytail

Todays little visitor... Mr. Bushytail.

I'm so glad to have wildlife in my backyard again.

We have bunnies, deer, owls, squirrels, woodpeckers, doves, and a variety of wild birds.

We may only have a little corner of forest in our backyard, but it's full of life.

He & his Mrs. like to drop things on me while I'm lying in my hammock...

I just love looking up and watching them scurry through the trees & into their nest.

Happy Snow Day

:: birds & snow = happy

Watching the birds & snow falling are two things that make me very happy.

Finally we get some snow in our new home...it's ultra fine, but accumulating.
I'm praying for bigger flakes & to wake up in the morning to a winter wonderland.

I love

I'm blaming the blowing snow & distance through windows for the bad photos,
I still had to share though...because there is nothing better than watching birds & snow fall.

Is it snowing where you are?
