{ fall is on it's way }

Finally, the temperature has dropped and it's starting to feel like Fall.

I've been gathering up pumpkins at my local farmer's market,

and started my fall decorating.

I wish I could say this lovely display is mine,

and that sweet primitive doorstep is mine as well.

However, it is not.

This was a photo taken last fall at a local Moravian village,

while on a field trip with my sweet son.

This tree was amazing, and I can't wait to see colors like this again.

This little red salt box conjures up images of simpler times,

and makes me think of cool mornings, warm fires, and bread in the oven.

Mmmm, doesn't that raisin bread look divine.

A beautiful old window, rolling pins, and a pile of cookie cutters,

{ if I could sew }

Once upon a time when women did it all, they made their own aprons.

If I could sew, I would SO sew one of these lovelies.

or maybe on of these...

if only I still had a little girl who I could dress up.

Then I might putter around in the gardens wearing one of these.

When I'm done I might put on one of these to go to town,

and I would dress my little girl in one of these.

When we are all done for the day I'll bring her home and put her in one of these,

especially with little pigtails in ribbons.

Oh my gosh, I adore all of these sweet patterns... if only I could sew.

Maybe you can, if so, you can find these darling patterns in my vintage shop,

It's my hope that someone who can sew will find them

and re-create some of these fabulous vintage outfits.

Hope you all are doing well,

I've been very busy hunting up new goodies to add to my shop.

These are just a few of my recent finds, you can check out the rest of my new finds

in the Fresh Finds section at { the vintage wren }.

{ do you RUE? }

Well, do you?

Funny thing... I wrote the title to this post before going to rue's twitter page,

and what do you know...it's there all over there page.

Anywhoo,

I just found out about this great online magazine thanks to

Ashlee over at the Prairie Cottage, who so sweetly let me know

that my {mid century floral swanky swigs }  were actually in it.

Thanks so much Ashlee... I never would have known.

So go on over and visit Ashlee at her Prairie Cottage,

she's a fellow graphic designer and her blog is just lovely,

full of great thrifty decorating ideas and fabulous recipes.

Now, on to rue

I was so excited...I know it's a small thing, but hey I'll take any exposure I can get.

So here they are on page 150 of the Premiere Issue of rue.

Drooling over this kitchen,  Hey, I have those spice bottles...time to break them out...

i n s p i r e d

I never leave my jewelry out like this, but maybe I will now, and those glasses (gotta have em)...

i n s p i r e d

Can you ever get enough birds?  This bedding is to die for.  I love everything about this simple space...

i n s p i r e d

Color, I love it...old cameras, love them...Johnny Cash, love him...dress forms, can't get enough...

i n s p i r e d

Fabulous studios, woven blinds, wire baskets, chalk boards, and inspiration clotheslines...LOVE IT...

i n s p i r e d

So much fabulous inspiration.

Amazing photos... I want to live in these spaces.

I better get to work, and create my own.

Other peoples creativity amazes me,

I'm not sure I can even classify myself as creative anymore,

that bar is just way too high.

{ working 9 to 5 }

Now, Now, don't get too excited, I didn't go and get a job outside of my home as a seventies secretary.

Though, I am mostly a secretary to my family with all of our schedules and family business.

I've just been working from sunup to sundown lately... homesteading.

Hence the 9 to 5 title... I'm back at work, and summer is officially over. : (

No lady of leisure time going on around here....YET.

That is why you haven't seen me around the blogdom too much lately.

I've been so busy doing my early fall maintenance around my home that I just haven't had time.

Actually, it's been kind of a nice break...I have gotten so much more accomplished around here.

I've planted flowers & trees, I've organized my kitchen drawers ( I'll share pics soon ),

cleaned out and organized my fridge ( more pics to share soon ), and much, much more.

This is my equivalent of spring cleaning, except, I'm getting ready for my hibernation.

I'm getting all of my outside projects done now so that when the nice cool days arrive,

I'll be able to sit around with my knitting projects, relax and enjoy.

BRING ON THE FALL DAYS...

WOO HOO... I CAN'T WAIT.

These photos are of my lovely vintage typewriter on my keeping room desk.

That was a project I tackled before school started, clearing it off and organizing.

I'm still working on the bookshelf area above, which is a little difficult to arrange

 in a way that pleases me, when I get there I'll share some pictures with you.

Hope you all are doing well,

I'll be on a regular blog schedule as soon as It gets too cool to plant.

Carrie

just plain ol' Carrie,
I was trying to throw my middle name in there for a while,
only a very few people ever call me by Carrie Ann,
and they've known me since birth...I wish it had stuck because I really like it.
Anywhoo, now you know ; )

{ perk & sip }

Just a little love for my two prints featured in the two fab treasuries below

Just click on the image to check out this treasury featuring my favorite color.

Thanks to Snow in June for featuring my { p e r k} print.

Another hot little treasury features my { s i p } print,

Love the Red Headed theme.

Thanks to Ayelet Shachar for including me.

Thanks for letting me toot my own horn a little,

I spent all day doing yard work & gardening, so not much else to share right now.

Gretta & I did manage to squeeze in a little ride to the bus stop with the wrens this morning,

and I'm still in love { but man am I out of shape }.

Hope you all had a wonderful Monday,

Thanks for coming to see me.

{ friday i'm in love }

It's FRIDAY and I'm in LOVE...

I love everything about it.

It's creamy color,

it's awesome back rack,

the contrast stitching on the handles,

{ s w o o n }

and as soon as it arrives, a little whicker basket.

{ more swoons }

I finally did it,

I went out and bought myself this bicycle today.

I've been wanting a bicycle for some time now.

I was hoping to find a vintage one, but instead

I found the next best thing a new retro style hybrid.

I haven't had a bike since I was a little kid, and

I have to tell you, It is absolutely the most fun...

I totally feel like a kid again.

I can't wait to get out and ride with my little wrens and fly like the wind,

they are going to be so happy but not nearly as happy as their mama...

I am SMITTEN.

My bike is perfect in every way for me, and it's such a great workout too.

I took her out for a spin as soon as I got her home and my quads felt huge when I stopped.

I was panting, sweating buckets, and grinning from ear to ear...

I'M SO HAPPY

{ if you've seen Dispicable Me, I'm so happy sounds like "It's so Fluffy" }

My friend Tami went with me today to pick her out, and we've already planned to go out

for a trail ride next week, I am so excited I don't think I can wait till next Friday.

I think I'll name her Gretta with two t's...cuz that's just how I roll.

I don't know why I must name it...I just have to.

HAPPY WEEKEND & HAPPY RIDING
