:: fall is coming

Though today's temps don't feel too much like fall....
this little crepe myrtle is shouting LOUD & PROUD that fall is on it's way.

Are you ready?

I sure am...

In fact, I met yesterday with my landscaper to discuss changing out some of the trees & shrubs around our new home, fall is the perfect time for planting trees & shrubs after all.  I spent more time today researching & gathering ideas for trees & shrubs, some are old favorites that I'll plant anywhere I ever go & others are new suggestions & plants I would love to add to my gardens.

Wanna have a peek at some of my {old favorites}?

NATCHEZ CREPE MYRTLE
Lagerstoemia indica x fauriei 'Natchez'

WHY I LOVE THEM: white blooms all summer long, & beautiful mottled bark.

LOROPETALUM
Loropetalum chinense 'Suzanne'

WHY I LOVE THEM: pink fringe blooms in spring & year round color. I prefer them in their natural shape like above, so it's important to choose the right variety for your space.

LO & BEHOLD 'LILAC CHIP' BUTTERFLY BUSH
Buddleia

WHY I LOVE THEM: { THE DOG OF COURSE ;D } the best butterfly bush for smaller spaces, the lovely lilac color, and a fragrance like honey { no wonder the butterflies love em' }

I planted 16 of these lovelies last fall at my old house,  I hated leaving them : (  but at least they were blooming when I planted them so I could enjoy them. Now I'm going to plant more : ).

Leaving my gardens was really one of the hardest parts of moving besides leaving friends. Who am I kidding, it was like leaving my babies behind. I picked and planted most of what was in my landscape, & I loved every plant. I watched them grow each year for 10 years & I handed them over to someone else when they were finally old enough to really enjoy....kinda like marrying off your children I suppose {ha ha just kidding...sort of I do have teenagers right now}. Though it's a little sad to have to start over, it's also very exciting to create new gardens again. I don't know if I'll be here to enjoy them long term, but I sure have fun planting & watching them grow.

{ landscape design part 1 }

This is the view into my backyard.

See our lovely trampoline that was demolished in the last storm we had.

It ended up close to the driveway of the house behind us....can you believe that.

Now it sits in it's original home, unusable, and I can't wait to get rid of it,

or at least move it over to the left side of our lot { out of the picture }.

While I was sitting outside this afternoon, enjoying the slightly cooler weather today.

I was daydreaming about the trees and landscaping I would like to add to improve my view.

I really do love the wide open views of the skies at night, but I don't care for seeing

other houses. My goal is to create a park like setting in my backyard.

I long for complete privacy, and surrounding myself with

NATURE.

So, Here's the planting PLAN
I'll need about ten of these Leyland Cypress,

four more of these River Birch to add to the two I already have,
two of these lovely Yoshino Cherry trees
four more of my favorite Limelight Hydrangeas,

and last buy not least by any means, one of my favorites the Weeping Willow.

Now, here's what I have in mind.

You can barely see the house behind me,

and I'm sure I don't have the cypress scaled to full size.

What do you think?

Is it an improvement?

You have to forgive me for my symmetry,

no matter how hard I try, I just can't get away from it.

This is just a plan too,

things are always subject to change in my world,

Now, my image isn't true to life, because never would my cherry trees

and limelight hydrangeas be in bloom at the same time,

but you get the idea.

I'm thinking it would be the perfect spot for a wedding someday.

Is it crazy that I'm even thinking of that.

I can't help it, I would love to see my backyard be beautiful enough

that my children would wan't to be married under that weeping willow someday.

A girl can dream can't she...now let's just hope I can make it that pretty.

I used photoshop, and the images above to compile the finished photo.

{ dream house }

Here it is, my dream house and property,

and it's only one street away from me.

I can see it from my back yard.

Oh the torture...

This house is the actual original farmhouse

to the property that my entire neighborhood is built on.

It is also practically the only one with mature trees.

Seeing as how my house is built

on what was formerly a pasture or field.

I have none....not one mature tree.

Herein lies my envy.

Look at the lovely pond with it's own little dock,

the beautiful weeping willows,

river birches and braddford pear trees.

This property and home are truly idyllic.

The house is gorgeous with it's white painted brick,

huge sun rooms and screened porch.

I swear, one day this house will be mine.

If it ever comes up on the market and we strike it rich

between now and then that is.

Here is the front view,

it sits in a lovely cul de sac,

and in another month

when everything is in bloom

it will be difficult to see.

Another reason I love it so...

lots of trees, shrubs...and privacy.

I wonder how my neighbors would feel

if they new I was secretly stalking their home.

Maybe I should get in good with them

In case they ever do decide to move they'll

call me and let me have first dibs.

Until that day comes,

I'll just admire it

from my back door.

Happy Weekend

*peace & love*
