:: it came, it came

F I N A L L Y

Our new faux tree was delivered last night. I couldn't wait to get it up & in it's place, so on went the Christmas music & out came the decorations. I generally like to make more of an event out of decorating the tree, but this year it felt just fine to let it happen organically, no fuss & it's done.

Whew, checking that off my list feels good.

I have to say I'm really impressed with this tree, it went together easily, it has a great shape & is so full. I especially like that it has two types of branches, including lovely pinecones. As far as decorating goes, we're sticking with our traditional ornaments we've collected over the years....you know...the special ones. Do you have a special ornament tradition?

It's our families tradition that every year we each pick a new ornament for the tree. It's lots of fun to pull them out, remember why we picked them, and place them on the tree once more.

This years picks

Papa : A wise owl ( they didn't have anything Carolina Panther's  )

Mama : A little house ( in honor of our new nest )

Phoebe : A little knit fox (our animal lover)

Noah : A video game controller (our gamer)

Ashley : A little bird ( leaving the nest & flying across country today )

I still have more holiday decorating to do, bows to make, presents to wrap...how about you?

Are you all set & ready for Santa?

:: capture the sunrise

Oh what a beautiful morning.
As I sat here by the fire this morning sipping my coffee,
I realized what a beautiful sight the sun is coming up in this window...
I just had to share it with you...though this picture hardly does it justice.

I've been caught up with all involved in planning and executing holiday festivities
so I've bee unable to make it here for several days, but hopefully I'll be able to
squeeze in a few visits here and there over the next few weeks.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving,
my family sure did...what a fabulous day.

I do sooo LOVE my family.

Now I'm off to wrap some Christmas gifts...ta ta.

:: O tannenbaum

Here she is, our lovely little tree. Simple and beautiful. I'm especially pleased with how well my new galvanized tub works as a tree stand this year. I don't miss the tree skirt at all, plus I know my wood floors are well protected.

It took me a while to get a good photo of her, and I love that when I snapped this one Patches our cat was perched there on the chair looking at me.  Yes, that's a door frame behind our tree, I wish we had gone a little bigger with our tree so you couldn't see it.  I think Papa might kill me if I ask him to bring in a 10ft tree next year. We had a time getting this 8 footer into a stand and then into my tub. It was a scene right out of "A Christmas Story "...my teenage daughter couldn't stop laughing at us.

When we finally got her in place, we had to let her drip dry on a bed of towels because she was covered in snow. Needless to say,  it took us a few days to get her to this pretty place.

Now for more trees....

This time, the outdoor variety....

Here they are, all of my beautiful new trees...Cryptomeria, Arbor Vitae, Cherry Laurel, Magnolia, and my favorite Limelight Hydrangeas on each end of the bed.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday. I sure am, because I'm doing absolutely nothing and my brain finally has a chance to rest.

:: peace :: love :: hugs ::
