:: more lemons

I've been busy practicing my oil painting,
on canvas,
and digitally using procreate.

The digital version is available for download in my Etsy shoppe,
while the oil version is drying & waiting its turn.

It's so much fun painting, both in real life with oils,
and digitally on my iPad. I can't say for sure which I actually prefer.
I love being able to sit on the sofa watching/listening to a show
while creating art with no mess.

However, nothing quite feels like having a brush in your hand
deciding what color & stroke to make next...
even if it is a bit of a mess sometimes.

Hope you all are healthy &

well as we go towards the weekend!

:: media room mood board

So, I need a little advice from my fellow decorators & designers.  I am finally getting around to updating our bonus/media room. I've found furniture and accessories I like, but I just can't seem to decide on the color of the room, I'm personally leaning towards the blue.  Help! I can't decide!

Which wall color do you prefer with the furnishings above, blue or gray??

:: home office e-design

{ OPTION 1 }

{ OPTION 2 }

{ BEFORE }

Several months ago, I worked on a home office design for some friends. They live several hours away, so we decided to work together via e-mail. They gave me direction by letting me know what things they wanted to keep in the space, otherwise I had full design freedom. They weren't particularly married to any of the existing furnishings so I started from scratch.  I gave them  a new vision for their home office and a list of where they could purchase the furnishings. I always keep things as affordable as possible, knowing that taste & styles change over time. Using Photoshop & online shopping resources, I am able to source beautiful items and put them virtually into their space giving them a clear vision of what the space will look like, it is then up to them to order the items and place them into the space according to the layout provided. With the vision for the space my friends were able to shop for pieces at their leisure and as their budget allowed.  The second after image shows the space using a pair of existing chairs from another part of their home with a new coffee table,  a set of similar bookcases that the homeowner purchased and the desk in it's original location. I think it's important to give several design/layout options.

Though I prefer to go into a space to get a real feel for how it works & flows, I also love being able to turn an existing space into something beautiful & cohesive from my own office.

:: quickie gallery wall

This is just a fun little share, so please excuse my less than professional I phone photos. I usually completely forget to snap a before photo, but since this whole design started with a text from my oldest daughter around 8:30 last night including a before pic we're good to go.

We started out exchanging texts and photos of her living room, she needed a little help with arranging & hanging some items above her sofa & pulling her home together in preparation for listing it on airbnb. After sharing several images & throwing out ideas via text, I decided it would be much easier if I just drove over & helped in person. So an hour later like any mom would do at 9:30 at night ... I jump in my car & head her way ready to relieve some of her stress and anxiety.

Luckily she has some really great items for me to work with, so within a few minutes I had grabbed various items from around her home to use for a little collection above the sofa. We had a great bull skull purchased at a Flea Market,  floral artwork { Target }, large rattan mirror { Target }, clock from  { Ikea }, and the large hammered metal "A"  I had given her as a gift from  { TJMaxx }.

I simply arranged the items on the floor in front of the sofa. She approved of the arrangement and we began hanging the items on the wall just as I had them placed on the floor. Super easy & we were done probably within 15-20 minutes of my arrival. I removed the afghan from the back of the sofa, fluffed up the pillows, added another table, lamp & rug from another room & voila we had a cool cohesive & pulled together look. I think it's perfectly eclectic & boho chic.

We continued moving and rearranging items around her home until around 1:00am. We still have some other little projects to tackle to get her place ready for airbnb, but she & I were very happy with the end results... I would certainly be happy to stay here for a visit, how about you?

More pics to come, and soon she will have a nice place for you to stay if you ever come for a visit to the Queen City, Charlotte NC.... any Panther's fans out there :).

:: dream pantry

                            Spaces design by Other Metros Design-build Witt Construction

{ p a n t r y   l o v e }

This is what I've been dreaming about lately.  I love this pantry....every last thing about it. Due to a recent failure of our lovely builders wire shelving, we are now looking to redo our pantry.  This is the look I'm going for....to a point of course...but you get the idea.

This is as good as my current pantry gets. It's just impossible to keep it looking this neat.
So, wish me luck & I'll keep you posted on our little pantry project.
Hopefully I'll end up with a pantry worthy of Houzz { fingers crossed }.

:: blog evolution

The many looks my blog has had since it's beginnings. Sometimes the hardest thing about blogging can be deciding on a blog design that works & represents you and your content. As a designer, I find coming up with designs for myself more difficult than it would be for someone else....hence my many different looks. Finally though I think I've settled on one I can be happy with for a while anyway...until the desire for change hits again. The greatest thing about blogging is the evolution, it's fun to look back and see where you've come from & how your blog evolves over time, just like we do.

:: master inspiration

I stumbled across this image on pinterest today,
and this is exactly the wall color I want for my master bedroom.

I'm absolutely dying over those walls and that color.

I love that the headboard is brown which mine is also,
and I've been thinking of painting our nightstands/chests
a pretty gray color to match the marble tops.
I never wanted my nightstand to match my bed,
but our bed is so high, and I was playing it so safe back then,
that I just ordered the same one my husband did.
The color of these pieces is perfect....and those lamps.

I adore EVERYTHING about this room,
and now I just need to find out the source for this image
so I can figure out what color that is on the walls.
Unfortunately this was pinned directly from Google,
and I can't find it through any of my searches.
I 've asked the original pinner if she knows,
but if you've seen this room, or know who it belongs to do tell.

I hate to use it without a credit, as this is poor web etiquette,
but I just had to share it today.

Oooh, and I will most certainly paint my vaulted/trey ceilings a lighter shade,
and find a beautiful chandelier to top it all off.

I'm so ready to finish our Master Bedroom.
So many projects, so little time & extra cash ; ).

What rooms are you daydreaming about making over?

Happy Monday!
